Timers switch your lights on a schedule; contactors take the electrical load off a timer's own switch so it doesn't burn out running a heavy HPS ballast. Shop LUMii's 24 Hour Heavy Duty Timer and Black Contactor Timer, Maxibright's Maxiswitch Quad and Solo, Omega and Greenbox's MDF contactor boards, and Vivosun's 7 Day Digital Timer. Anything running more than one HPS ballast should go through a contactor, not straight off a plug-in timer.
